DPCon 2.0 Summary Description We held Digital Paint Conference 2.0 at Atlantis Gaming Center in Charlotte, NC on Saturday, August 21, 2004 and CJ's Paintball Field on Saturday. Due to several unfortunate events, the turnout was really small, but we still had a great time and got everybody at the gaming center into it. Events 2 vs. 2 Tournament
- Description: Generic 2v2 tournament. We paired new players with experienced players to make it fair.
- Maps: snip_pb1, arenaball
- Champions: Two teams tied, and rather than drag it out to a tiebreaker map, both teams got t-shirts: DaPainta/Ricook and jitspoe/Booyah
Free-For-All
- Description: Basic deathmatch tournament. Trophy for the winner.
- Maps: fff2, dropzone
- Champion: DaPainta
Last Man Standing
- Description: 4-team map, one person per team. The top two teams moved on to the next round until only two were left, who fought in a final match for the trophy.
- Map: mirage
- Champion: S8NSSON
Bot Bet
- Description: Basically an interactive door prize -- Each person got a bot. The person's bot with the most kills won a t-shirt. The little catch was people could join in the game as well and try to get their bot to kill them for more points or kill other people's bots.
- Map: pb2dm1
- Winner: Young Rellik (he actually wanted to buy one of the shirts, but didn't have the cash -- I just told him to play as he might have a chance to win one, and he did.)
New Game Mode: KOTH
- Description: King of the Hill is a game mode that has just been implemented and was tested for the first time at DPCon. Teams get points for staying on the hill (currently 1 point for every 3 seconds). The new map for it (King of the Ship) is pretty crazy -- just getting to the hill is a challenge. I think everybody died within the first second of the first round. It was hilarious. We also played some classic maps with KOTH mode added.
- Maps: kots_beta1, koth, ksplat2
Bot Slaught
- Description: Humans vs. bots. Lots of bots.
- Maps: clubpb, clubpb2, battle2
Red vs. Blue - With Stats
- Description: We wrapped up the night playing some regular old CTF, but the server kept track of all the statistics...
- Map: warhouse
- 1st Place Spammer: DaPainta (0.48 shots/sec)
- 2nd Place Spammer: S8NSSON (0.29 shots/sec)
- 3rd Place Spammer: Booyah (0.25 shots/sec)
- Marksmanship Award: Young Rellik (kills/shots: 22/125 -- 17.6%)
Bag Bag
- Description: Just how many plastic grocery bags can be fit in a little plastic bag? Another little way to win a free t-shirt.
- Winner: DaPainta
Real Paintball
- Description: Only a couple people were able to make it to the real field, but there were other people there, so we still had a great time. Pictures

Lots (DaPainta had the closest guess).

jitspoe got owned.

Tip: When bunkering somebody, don't slide on your knees if there's gravel. Jeans won't save you.

DPPB2 shirts!

Conclusion It's a shame more people didn't go -- a shame for them, because the people who did go had a great time. Considering the turnout, it was way better than I anticipated. I'm glad the people at Atlantis got involved (and actually picked up the game pretty quick). Hats off to them for being such good sports and also for helping me get the shirts printed. They turned out great!jitspoe
