January 12th, 2004Paintball2 Alpha Build007 is Near! Those of you who visit the bboard will know that there’s some pretty cool stuff coming up in the next build.  The primary features include a new font, which can be formatted (colored, italicized, and underlined), and a scriptable menu system.  Here are some screenshots to wet your appetite:

This release will be a fairly buggy one, but that’s why it’s still labeled “alpha.”

December 25th, 2003Merry Christmas!I wish I had a new release or something to put up as a little Christmas present for you all today, but the latest build has been a huge task (completely reworking the user interface for the menus and such), and I've been busy graduating from Clemson (pulled a 4.0!) and hanging out with the family for the holidays, so the progress has been rather slow, but it is coming along!  After this release, new builds should be much more frequent, so have a wonderful Christmas and look forward to all the awesome new stuff coming to Paintball2 in 2004!
September 25th, 2003New Server: *Thud* *splat*Ssjtrunks has set up a new server: *Thud* *splat*.  If you're using the standalone version of Paintball2, this should show up when you download the latest server list.  You can also connect manually to DarkPrince.dyndns.org:27910.  Check out #trunks on irc.EnterTheGame.com for more information.
August 30th, 2003Paintball2 Crashing? If paintball2.exe crashes whenever you load a map, type the following at the console:

set gl_debug 1
vid_restart

If it still crashes, contact me or post on the message board.
August 24th, 2003BSP Mapmaking Files UpdatedFor the mappers out there, bsp_pb2_alpha.zip on the files page has been updated (the filename is still the same).  It includes new .wal files which accurately reflect the .jpg textures used in Paintball 2.0 Alpha builds 3 to 6.  It also includes the missing func_model entity for placing plant models in maps.
New Text SystemThe next build of Paintball2 will include a completely new text system, with a new font, and text that can be colored, italicized, and underlined.  There are 256 different colors that can be selected from a palette image, and the font has 3 different character sets: the one visible in the screenshot below, a stencil style font, and an LCD style font.

Here I go and remove the POTD feature because I haven't been keeping it updated, and now I continually post new screenshots.  Go figure. :)
