January 22nd, 1999Help Section UpdateI made a fairly large addition to the Help section today. In the newbie guide I have gone into depth with an example game played on the map Battle. This example offers many suggestions on gameplay and strategy to anyone that is new to the game or has been playing a while and just hasn't grasped the concept yet. I will be adding to this newbie section often and will also be developing a strategy guide that should also be very helpful. If you have any questions about it or comments please feel free to post them to the bulletin board. You can access the new section by clicking here. I hope it is helpful for everyone.

Digital Paint Final UpdateThe Digital Paint Crew if currently working on the Final version of Digital Paint. We plan on having the following in the release.
Check back here often for more developments on our final version. And as always, thank you for supporting Digital Paint.
January 20th, 1999Jitspoe ranks among tops in Quake DevelopmentJitspoe was nominated for awards in several categories at Quake Women's Forum's Best of 1998 Vote. He was able to place in the top 3 in all three categories that he was nominated in. First Jitspoe was voted 3rd Best Level Designer of 1998, then 3rd Best Skin Artist of 1998, and finally Jitspoe has been named the 2nd Best Graphic Artist of 1998 behind only Adrian Carmack of id software. We are very proud of Jitspoe, feel free to congratulate him in email or on the bulletin board. He definitely is very deserving. Keep up the kick ass work Jit!
January 19th, 1999Beta 5.1 Portage!Smokeya has ported the Beta 5.1 server code to Linux and Solaris. Both of these files are available in our file section. Their seems to be a few more code issues remaining in this release and Calrathan is working on resolving them. However Beta 5.1 is still probably the best bet for servers right now. To avoid the newly found cheat servers should place the line : "camera 1" in their commands.cfg. To avoid the nasty bug which causes the server to crash every once in awhile place the segment "+set allowoverflows 1" in your command line. Hopefully these 2 changes will make sure our servers run great until the next server side only release. Thank you to all of you who host Digital Paint!
S8NSSON's new map Monet!Keeping with his grandmaster theme, S8NSSON has released his new map Monet. Here is a description of the map straight from the maker.
The map is a 3 team(blue, red, purple) ctf. It's small, fast, and furious. Nothing but action. Kind of lame for only 2 players, as there are too many ways to get everywhere. There are starts, and enough weapons, on each team for up to 8 players per team. But that would be way too much. I just put the starts in to give a variety of start points. I estimate 4 per team would be prime.

You can pick up Monet or any other 3rd party Digital Paint maps at Fembot's Clan Smurf FTP. Thank you to S8NSSON, keep up the good work.
100,000 HitsAs you can see from the Picture of the Day we achieved 100,000 hits today. The page has only been up since the end of July and we have allready passed 100,000. Much thanks goes out to Dakota of Captured.com for hosting us and supporting Digital Paint, and also to Gestalt and all of Planetquake for printing our news and making us mod of the week. Without support from community giants like these Digital Paint would be about as popular as Hot Potato.
January 18th, 1999Digital Paint Help!I have done some more work on the Help section for Digital Paint. And judging by the amount of questions on the bulletin board and on servers it seems that most people do not even know this page exhists. So I figured if I made it a news story people would find it =). The help section includes installation instructions, newbie guide, how to find a server, guns, maps, other items, map making, running a server and funnames. It has almost all the information you would ever need to play this game. You can get to it by hitting the HELP link on the frame to your right.
