January 19th, 1999Beta 5.1 Portage!Smokeya has ported the Beta 5.1 server code to Linux and Solaris. Both of these files are available in our file section. Their seems to be a few more code issues remaining in this release and Calrathan is working on resolving them. However Beta 5.1 is still probably the best bet for servers right now. To avoid the newly found cheat servers should place the line : "camera 1" in their commands.cfg. To avoid the nasty bug which causes the server to crash every once in awhile place the segment "+set allowoverflows 1" in your command line. Hopefully these 2 changes will make sure our servers run great until the next server side only release. Thank you to all of you who host Digital Paint!
S8NSSON's new map Monet!Keeping with his grandmaster theme, S8NSSON has released his new map Monet. Here is a description of the map straight from the maker.
The map is a 3 team(blue, red, purple) ctf. It's small, fast, and furious. Nothing but action. Kind of lame for only 2 players, as there are too many ways to get everywhere. There are starts, and enough weapons, on each team for up to 8 players per team. But that would be way too much. I just put the starts in to give a variety of start points. I estimate 4 per team would be prime.

You can pick up Monet or any other 3rd party Digital Paint maps at Fembot's Clan Smurf FTP. Thank you to S8NSSON, keep up the good work.
100,000 HitsAs you can see from the Picture of the Day we achieved 100,000 hits today. The page has only been up since the end of July and we have allready passed 100,000. Much thanks goes out to Dakota of Captured.com for hosting us and supporting Digital Paint, and also to Gestalt and all of Planetquake for printing our news and making us mod of the week. Without support from community giants like these Digital Paint would be about as popular as Hot Potato.
January 18th, 1999Digital Paint Help!I have done some more work on the Help section for Digital Paint. And judging by the amount of questions on the bulletin board and on servers it seems that most people do not even know this page exhists. So I figured if I made it a news story people would find it =). The help section includes installation instructions, newbie guide, how to find a server, guns, maps, other items, map making, running a server and funnames. It has almost all the information you would ever need to play this game. You can get to it by hitting the HELP link on the frame to your right.
January 17th, 1999Beta 5.1 cheat foundOnce again the lamers abound.  A little cheat has been found in beta 5.0 and 5.1 and will be corrected in a new server release.  For a temporary fix to this bug, it is reccomended that server ops edit "commands.cfg" and add the line "camera 1". This will prevent use of the feature with the cheat capability.Another trick for you server admins... is to LEARN what commands.cfg does. =)  It restricts a command to the operator level assoiciated with it.  But not only a command.  Any line of text that BEGINS with that word you can restrict. Therefore if you wanna prevent people from scrolling weapnext or weapprev just add those lines to the commands.cfg and it will not let the client spam with em.You can even prevent people from dropping their guns!  (OH DAMMIT, NOT THE TRRACER!)  :)
January 16th, 1999Paintball Player NewsCaptured.com is now hosting a News site devoted to clans and players. This site is run by Sunspot of LP and is called Paintball Player News. Click here to visit the new site. Also check out other Paintball news sites, Paintball Central and Paintball News Stand. Digital Paint supports all 3 sites and we send our press release to all three. Hopefully all three will provide unique services to the community and help Paintball grow.
PlanetQuake Most Popular FilesDigital Paint's Beta 5 Client release made it into the top 10 files downloaded for the past week at Planet Quake. Click here to see Digital Paint listed at #6. Hopefully by time you check this link we will move up yet another spot. =) Thank you to everyone who is making our Mod of the Week experience so great.
DPcon by the NumbersFrom the makers of Splatcon by the Numbers, comes DPcon by the Numbers. Murdock of Clan Smurf has once again compiled a list of important numbers from a lan party. This time it was this past weekend's DPCon. Click here to view the list.
January 15th, 1999Hump Map PackIn earlier Beta versions of Digital Paint exhisted several maps made by Hump. However now Hump has left paintball and asked that we not include his maps in our release. Rather he wanted his maps released as a seperate zipped pack. Many of these maps are played on Digital Paint servers so Hellraiser over at Paintball Central has packaged them up for easier download. If you are looking for Kaos, Koth, Warhouse, or Sball2 then you need look no further then our files section and the Hump Map Pack.
More DPcon Post mortumBonfilio has sent me a few more pictures off his digital camera from DPcon and they are now up on the DPcon site here. Murdock has been hard at work for the past few days and today placed the Smurf DPCon Journal online. This journal includes entries made by Murdock and Hellraiser on their car ride to and from DPcon. Stay tuned for Murdock's DPcon by the Numbers, and more photographs to be scanned soon.
New Button!Georgiana, the great artist from Clan PMS and attendee of DPcon has created a new button for Digital Paint. Thanx to Geo for the great button!
