March 30th, 1999Lan Parties!I have contacted Vortac of ICE and preliminary plans for DPcon 2 are being made. We expect to hold the event this summer either in late June or early July. You can expect to have just as much fun if not more as we did at the original. More information will be announced as soon as I have it. ICE is also hosting another Lan Party coming up this April 10th-11th at the Greenbelt Maryland Courtyard by Marriot, the same location of DPcon. If anyone is interested please head on over to their page. Another Lan Party of much importance swiftly approaching is S8NSSON's atLANta Fest to be held April 17th and 18th. S8N will be hosting that party just outside of Atlanta. Mortal Funk has also announced a Paintball Lan Party to be held this summer which will most likely include Digital Paint as well. New Map ReleasesAs always our 3rd party map makers have been hard at work. Recenty released maps include Indoor Rush by Zimbu, THOD by Ruiner, and Icecap by Bogleg. All of these maps and many more are available for download at the Clan Smurf FTP hosted by Fembot. Once again thank you to all the map makers for supporting Digital Paint, and to Fembot for so graciously serving the files. TCA Server vote! One of Digital Paint's most stable servers may soon be leaving us. LordZ sends word that with the future release of Team Fortress Classic, TCA will be reducing the number of Quake2 servers they can operate. They are holding a vote on their page to determine which servers will continue to operate. Please go here to show your support for paintball. Sadly good servers are hard to come by right now, and I am sure we would all hate to lose another. March 25th, 1999Digital Paint Plans for the FutureOn February 4th I outlined Digital Paint's plans for the future. At that time QI had announced plans to persue Half Life Paintball and Digital Paint decided we would continue with our game to the next level, Quake 3. However since then, QI had cancelled HL plans and regrouped and formed a new group, Mortal Funk, and has announced plans to make a Paintball game for Quake3. Largely for that reason, Digital Paint has decided we will most likely not continue with our Quake3 plans. It would be somewhat pointless to have 2 TC's almost exactly the same for one game. Although we would have liked to work with the new Quake3 engine and felt we would have produced a product superior to that of our Quake2 game, we have decided to turn our attention towards another project. We will be finishing up Quake2 Digital Paint and releasing Final as planned. By that time we hope to be able to announce our next project. We wish Mortal Funk good luck in their development and hope they keep up the strong tradition of Quake Paintball modifications. This news does not mean that we will be abandoning the Paintball community. We still plan on fully supporting Quake2 Paintball, and it is very likely that our future plans will again revolve around the game we all love. Server Lists updatedAfter much nudging from Pearlslam I have finally gotten around to updating the server lists. Pearlslam infact helped me with the text list which I have uploaded. And I have also updated the html Qplug list. So now you should be able to use Hydra, Gamespy, or the Qplug to find all of the Digital Paint servers. I have recently reinstalled my operating system and have lost all mail that has been sent to me. If you have emailed me about a server, and you did not get added to the list please send me another mail. Anyone that is hosting a server of knows of one not on my list, please let me know by clicking on my name below. Digital Paint Beta 5.5As many of you know we have been quite busy here at Digital Paint recently and we have had to put Paintball on the back burner for a bit. However just to let you know we haven't totally forgotten you we have decided to release Beta 5.5. This will be a client pack which includes the new things that have been worked on since Beta 5, excluding code. In this release we will include the maps Hellsurvivors, Battle2, Arenaball, and Pyschotic. We will also include higher quality gun sounds, and a few other goodies. We expect to make this release soon. Probably within the next week. I would like to thank you for sticking with Digital Paint within the past 2 monthes eventhough development has slowed. We still plan on releasing Digital Paint Final with code fixes and new code features in the future. March 10th, 1999ArenaBall for DownloadThe ArenaBall map I made is now available for public download. It's a small single flag speedball map (It was POTD a couple days ago). You can get it here. March 7th, 1999Jitspoe's HomepageWoohoo! Even better than a .plan! I've got a homepage now. A few people suggested it, and now I've finally decided to make a page I could call my own :) It'll have news and stuff so you can find out about all the... interesting... things I do in my life besides Digital Paint. There will be some paintball stuff in there too, of course, but it's mostly events on the RealLife(tm) (altho it's starting to become difficult to distingush between RealLife(tm) and the rest of it...) Please note that most of it isn't done, and it will probably remain that way for some time unless there's a lot of inspiration to finish it :) Check it out here. March 6th, 1999PBCL OpensPBCL (PaintBall Central League) is up. It's not complete, but DaveMan2 is hard at work on it. Check it out here.
